For a hand held this has to be light years in front of anything else. Obviously severely restricted with the transmit distance using standard ducks, but so far I've managed 3 miles using the 20cm duck provided and pulled in 18 miles on receive (although no idea about the technical details of that station other than he was sitting at 800 ft).The obvious major advantage of the Randy 3 is the ability to quickly switch to a mobile for the car so for the just over £200 you have the best of both worlds, but more importantly the quality of President.
